Thanks Jim! Harley and I are happy with the way it's coming along. I'll paint the headstock tomorrow and then we can add all the gearboxes, shafts, and motor. Still have to install the electrical conduit and controls, but hope to have everything done by the end of this weekend!
I'll be back in a hour or so. Have to go finish up the farm chores before dark. I'm still moving a little slow after my treatment at the VA yesterday. Glad there will only be 3 of them for now and 1 is knocked out and "under the belt" - literally.
O.K., it took about 2 hours. Said I was moving slow today.
Got another skunk tonight. Back under my sisters camper. I'm beginning to wonder just how many skunks hold up in a single den. When I looked at the hole they have dug under the wall and concrete floor of the shop (right next to the camper) it looks big enough to have a hundred of them in there. When dad gets back we are going to have to discuss how we are going to fill that in. I'm afraid the concrete floor in the shop may crack or collapse in that area. I'm thinking if we shovel one or two 90# bag(s) of concrete in there and then soak it with the garden hose, that will probably do the trick.
See Dave, it wasn't alien metal after all. Your drill bits are just dull like mine!
Run a hose from the exhaust pipe down the hole and gas em' out, then fill it back up with cement.
Old farmer told me that trick.
I thought of that. Wouldn't take long, especially with the old diesel tractor. Also thought of filling the entrance with sulfur and hitting it with the weed burner. That does a real number on varmints in holes and gophers. Problem is, I would really like to make sure all of the carcasses are out from under the concrete floor before it is filled in. That area is under the service bays and I'd hate to have a vehicle collapse through the floor because of a void that is created by the decaying animal.
Might be more interesting just to put some sardines or herring out on the ground outside of the hole and then stand back at the corner of the blg and wait for them to come out. I'm sure there is at least one healthy skunk still under there.
Good morning Tiny, Don, and the rest of the Oregon crew! Managed to get the cowl off of the 67's cab last night. I'm glad I took that thing off, there is a ton of rust under there!
