Morning Jim. You've really got a thing for those skunks.
Sorry I didn't get back to you on Sunday about our route to Corvallis. I drove south on 213, cut over to Canby on the back roads then took 99E to Keizer. Hit 22 west to Dallas. Then south on 99W to Corvallis. I probably drove really close to your place...
Anybody have any experience bending metal tubing (square)? I want to build a step for my camper and think bending it would be the way to go... since that's how the one that I have is made. However, I'm open to suggestions too.
Pretty darn close. I was at the Polk County Fairgrounds for a bit so you came darn close to running over me in Rickreall.
Can't help you the square tubing. Don't have a bender for that. I was looking at some metal prices in town the other day. You sure you can't buy one for equal or less than the raw materials it will take to make one? Amazon.com: camper steps
First thing I came across in a "bing" search.
Jim, Thanks. I'll have to take some pictures of what I have and then explain what I'm trying to accomplish. My wife has fallen off the step coming out of the camper once. She fell right onto the tung of a trailer. She was really bruised up but nothing too serious. We were both lucky. The problem that we are running into is when the camper is loaded on the truck and the boat is attached. It's really hard for my wife to get in and out. We all know what that means. If momma aint happy nobody's happy.
Howdy Pat! Just getting ready to go back to painting.....Tomorrow I get to start rebuilding the lathe! Then spend Thu and Fri working on a crane............Damn it...
That damn clutch lever is made of some alien alloy from the Roswell crash scene.
None of my drill bits will even do more than make shiny spot on it, even the cobalt ones.
How did Ford become involved in extra-terrestrial alloys?

Not much experience bending metal tubing, but I have been told that you can fill the tube with sand and the been the tube and the sand will hold the shape of the tube.
Belated good evening all. Had an appointment at the VA in P town this afternoon. First of 3 "maintenance" treatments. Treatments aren't bad. The aftermath is a b$%#h.
Got trapped into a visit to Costco's in Tigard on the way home. I still like the one in Salem much better. Wife spends too much money at either one of them. Come to think of it, I think I like the Costco off of Beltline much better...........'cause my wife never gets to go to that one.
Stopped at the farm on the way home and got chores done in the dark. Wife spent most of the time making funny comments about the smell around the garage and my sisters camper. Skunks were a no show tonight. Maybe last nights showdown at the "O.K. Coral" was the final hurrah! One can hope....................

This is what I have and it seems to work pretty well. I have 3 brackets on the bottom side of the bumper. Normal center alignment is on the two to the left as in the pic. With the boat and/or the long stinger on, I move it to the two on the right (Actually the center one and the one on the right). It is held in the brackets by D ring clevis pins. Wife doesn't have a problem with the step. If my wife can manage to step down (gee, they did put a hand hold by the door) without falling, then anyone can.
Jim, I swear I'm gonna come over with my video camera and follow ya around..........
Thought I mentioned once that my favorite training flicks when I was still in that business, were the silent flicks of the Keystone Cops. I took the lessons to heart and learned well!!!!!
But alas, I wouldn't be that big of a sell! Don't have one of those old helmets and the mustache is all wrong! Then we would get PITA (or is that PETA?) bloomers all bunched up because one of those sweet innocent black and white putty cats was assassinated and posted on the web!
Now my wife on the other hand.............you should have seen her slinking around out there tonight with my 250 / 500 Lumen tac light checking anything and everything that was taller than a piece of gravel before she would take a step! Funny as heck, she just knew a monster skunk (or one of the howling coyotes) was going to jump out and get her.
In her defense, she had a bad experience with a coyote on her family's sheep ranch in Idaho when she was a tad younger and could run faster than she can now...............................
