Well, the old Ranger may have met it's end............due to parts un-availability and $$$$
I cannot find a used TK-5 trans trans even in a J-yard for less than $425, then the parts and labor to make it a sure thing take it well above $1,250, re-man units are well over $1,400..........This is supposed to be my budget beater!

Thanks, but no..........Thats the FM146 or M5OD, internal slave cylinders and different length dimensions end to end ( new driveshaft), need to fab in different cross member too.
I liked the TK-5 because of its external slave cylinder, ruggedness, and nice low 1st gear.
Now since all the old Rangers have been crushed, people think a good TK-5 is worth it's weight in gold.
I have seen LOTS of troubles with the FM146 and M5OD too, not interested in doing a bunch of modifications just to support one............(only in a LAST ditch effort if ALL else fails).
To bad the guy is sending the Bronco to the scrapper sometime this week. He wanted $75.00 for the tranny. I bet the crossmember would have come with it. He was going to flip the bronco over to make it easy to get at it. Yeah my 87 Bronco II 5 speed had an oil starvation problem that required the front input shaft bearing being replaced with a sealed bearing. It's still running strong, as my daughter has it.
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Getting in late.
Took the folks to the N. Dallas Bar and Grill for dinner. I think that will be our last trip there for quite some time. They have now started charging for each coffee refill. I had a cup of coffee with two refills during and after dinner and it was $1.50 for each. So........between mom, dad and myself, we were charged for 9 cups of coffee at $1.50 ea. for a total of $13.50 just for coffee. Guess it will be quite some time before we go back. It's really too bad, the food was decent and since it is a sports bar type set up, they usually have a game on for a distraction.
Dave, I have to get to my MIL's. She has a Ranger she is going to sell. I really don't know too much about it. I was thoroughly upset when she got it because I knew she would never drive it and it was in pretty ruff shape. Since the boys conspired with her to get it, I told them it would be their problem and not to call me. The boys put a new clutch in it, but that's about all I know other than the parts store gave them the wrong throw out bearing so instead of getting the correct one, they just put the old one back in. I'm thinking it may be a little newer than what will do you any good.
Probably just "under the weather" for a few days. He pushes himself too hard. (This from a self trained, well practiced and proud malingerer.) I think Harley would fill us in if there was a dire problem.
