Yep it was a lot of fun. I'll probably be going back pretty soon with just the father in law. With the whole family we have to have the truck tag along everywhere for the kids and dogs. The wife and her sister can't spend all day out in the dunes like their dad and I can.
On another note, bought a new truck last week. 85 Nissan pickup with a 5-speed and the napZ motor (8 spark plug 4 cylinder). Sure is an ugly little thing but it's really good on gas compared to the Ford. Not a single mechanical issue with it and new tires, all for $250.
Got the boat out, cleaned it up a little bit, greased the trailer hubs, put the motor in a pail of water and she fired right up... on old gas no less (as I was proof reading this post I almost put "old a$$" instead of gas... Wouldn't that be a Freudian Slip?)
Getting closer to being ready for our camping trip this weekend.
I finally found something I don't like about the new place.............
Trying to turn off hwy 126 into my driveway.
Almost invariably, some idiot comes up behind me as I am slowing and signaling to left turn into the driveway, these are the outcomes.......
1. They don't see my signal and brake lights until the last second, and come screaming up behind me in 4 wheel, tire screeching drift.
2. They ride my azz, then blast by inches away on the right at 60 mph.
3. They slow, but flip me off for having the audacity to turn off the highway into my own driveway.
This is a 2 lane rural highway on a sweeping bend in the river, posted at 45 mph too.
And God forbid if I have to wait for oncoming traffic to turn!
I can tell the locals when they are behind me, they will fade far back as soon as signals come on,........ the azz*^&%'s from town think it's a 65mph 4 lane freeway!
One of these days, I will be wrecked by one of these Idiots, or I will chase one down and secure myself a cozy new address up in Salem for the next 30 to life.
Good evening Oregon. Just home from P-town. Left the VA and stopped at Costco in Tigard, then stopped at Elmer's for dinner and made it home without further ado.
Dave, that is exactly what killed my Formula and darn near killed my wife, when we were still down south living on the Umpqua River north of Roseburg. She was coming home, slowed to turn and had to wait for traffic before she could turn left into our driveway. Two high school kids driving a CRX at 70+ (OSP estimate) slammed into the back of her. The turn signal on the Formula was miraculously still flashing when the County Mounties and OSP arrived on scene. The kids were supposed to be doing homework at the library in Roseburg. Instead they had snuck off to a county park on the river near our house. They were late getting home and she was sitting in his lap necking as they rocketed down the highway. No one knows how they survived, but they did without permanent injury. My wife's arms still give her trouble periodically.
