Go with Dave's suggestion. If you are going to light them up do it in a truly respectable fashion!

24 vac is just a mild tingle, not very intimidating.
440 vac will become judge, jury and executioner to the fool who tries to breach the fence.

I've got a left over transformer from the base. I could run it in reverse, and input 240vac, and produce 12,000 vac............Just saying..........lol

I ditched the computer, and installed a 4bbl carb and manifold, then installed a Duraspark dist!

Probably Duraspark II from a 70s era Ford application, the choice of all of us who have turned our backs on computers and EFI.
Works WAY better than the EECII TFI computer feedback system that I tossed on my Ranger.

Did Ford still have a dist in '96? My last gasser Ford was a '88 and it still had the dist, but I figured they'd gone to coil packs by then.

My 96 had a TFI dist. I just changed it for a 5.0 Duraspark, and everything works just fine!

Just stay with OEM Ford stuff, all that Summit/Jeggs stuff performs NO better, and is mainly best at separating YOU from your MONEY.

Coil packs didn't start on Ford V-8s until the modular (triton) V-8s 4.6/5.4/6.8v-10s.
