If you drain pan, TQ, lines and cooler you'll be at 19qts

I wouldn't expect it to damage the seals, but I would expect problems with the friction materials and especially the bearings and bushings.

DEXRON is a GM specification. DEXRON VI is for later model GM transmissions.

Here is how I recommend changing the fluid: E4OD FLuid Exchange

If you are only going to drain the pan and refill I recommend doing it many, many times. At least five drain and fills should do it, at about 6-8 quarts each time.

Not pulling the converter out. Just doing a hot flush.

I can pull the lines, filter, and pan and re fill. I figured i would change the fluid tonight drive her about 100 miles and then change it the second time. But i might have to wait a few weeks to do a 3rd flush on it since Mercon V is not cheap and i am still working on other area's of the truck. Do you feel like this is a safe way to go.

I am not going to lie that i could put it to good use since i am working on a very tight budget. But at the same time i dont want you to put your self out. I have tons of dextron but no Mercon. I will send you a pm.

If you're just gonna run it a 100 or so miles then flush it, maybe just buy the Walmart brand Mercon, then put some good stuff in it.

I'm very confused on what you plan to do. First you're going to pull the lines, filter, and pan. Then you say your going to flush. I'm confused.

If you're going to all that trouble why are you leaving half of the fluid in the torque converter? Why not drain that, too?

If it were MY truck I would use THIS PROCEDURE one time and I'd be done. I would not do it a second time.

Yep. I've done Mr. Kovalsky's procedure (back when I had my E4OD) and it works. Works very well, I should add.
