Just like the title says. I don’t want to add any thing to the truck that could hurt it but I was told that the E40D could take Dex/Mer III. Dextron VI exceeds the requirement for dex III so would it be safe to run. I ask because I have a large supply of Dextron VI on hand but would need to go out and by mercon.
NOTE Yes the title is wrong. It should have been E4OD<O</O
Mark kolvals(?)..former ford trans engineer is the source
I said this? Where? When?
I would NOT use DEXRON VI in an E4OD. I have never tested it in an E4OD, but from what I know of the trans and DEXRON VI I would expect the trans would be junk in a short while running DEXRON VI.
aww crap,i was on my phone and at a family function and NOT paying enough attention. I read v when it was vi...MY BAD ...NOT Mark...VERY sorry. mervcon v and III are my subject. I WAS INCORRECT!!
Yeah i agree 100%. I only drove the truck about 60-80 miles with it so i dont think any damage has been done. Today i will pick up some mercon V and drop the pan again. I guess i should fill it and drive her a few miles and then dump and fill again with new filter.
