2000 Expedition cabin temp dial won't turn
Hi All,
Just bought my first 4WD vehicle, a 2000 Expedition - Eddie Bauer edition -- with the 5.4 Triton engine and very glad to have found this forum! I'm really looking forward to getting into off-roading with this fine American-made vehicle!
The truck is overall in great shape, except for one thing: the temperature dial on the lower center console to set the cabin temperature is absolutely stuck on the coldest setting. It absolutely will not budge! I'm afraid to force it with a pair of pliers as that might strip the axle the ****'s connected to.
The vehicle was (and still is) located in a warmer region of the country for the past dozen years and I assume the heater wasn't used very much since the vehicle was new (although even here it gets chilly in the winter), but this **** is stuck so strongly I have to think there's something broken in the heating system itself rather than it just being an extremely "sticky" dial.
I have read a number of posts regarding the apparently widespread "heater blender door" issue but when I wrote to the folks who sell the HeaterTreater kit which fixes that well-known problem they said they'd never seen the issue I described above before!
Does anyone here have any idea what the main issue that's preventing the temp. control **** from being turned could be?
The truck does have the climate control feature in which it senses the temperature of the outside air and then allows the driver to set a specific temperature for the cabin, fortunately, but I'm at a loss to explain why the temperature selection **** is "locked" on cold!

I can't imagine how this dial could become so incredibly "stuck" to the point that it won't budge. It's as if someone glued it into the coldest position.
Still, even if this **** remains stuck turned to the extreme left (coldest) setting, the EATC system should "overrule" that if, on a cold day for example, I set the EATC to automatically maintain a temperature of, say, 72 degrees, right?
Thanks for any feedback.

Does that mean that the driver and front-seat passenger can get heat but the passengers seated at the rear of the vehicle can't, due to the temperature control **** being stuck on cold?
