As I'm slowing well before I have to actually press on the brake for a red light I'm approaching on the feeder of Interstate 10, a young buck in an F-150 to my direct right creeps up alongside and tests his might by pushing his GO pedal.

Little did he know I was in my 140hp tune nor that even had I not had a tune of any kind he'd be the last child I'd ever accept defeat to. So I hit it.

Tranny dropped a gear as black smoke bellowed from my exhaust as I accepted his challenge, but if kicked down hard.

He had nothing as we left the once red light that previously paired us for the battle forwarned as it let go of it's restraints as it turned to green and I pulled away but then I noticed my OD light on.

\Hit the OD switch and OD turned off, then pushed it again and it went back to normal but with the light still blinking or for the main part was on on the shifter.

Crap, I'm on my way to my moms, I hope she makes it. Ten miles further down the road I realize the light that was 'on' on the shifter was nothing more than the reflection of the shiny red gift wrap I had very recently encompassed a few gifts that I had wrapped for my family, those gifts being on the front passenger seat.

Result? The reflection of the gift wrap played me for a fool. My OD light was never flashing, what I saw was the sunlight refecting from the wrap onto my shifter, right at the OD light.

 

Btw and if I didn't explain it previously, when I hit the gas to prioritize the situation between myself and the youngin' in the F150, my truck dropped a gear and did so hard. I thought something broke it downed the gear so hard.

But that's the joke which was on me. Nothing ended up being wrong as the shifter OD light which I thought came on after that downgear slam showed it's ferocity, was nothing other than sunlight reflecting off of gift wrap.

Anyways, just a story.

 

1. My tuner used to do the hard downshift from OD, but I had that fixed... thanks to the F6.
2. Why avoid OD? Cylinder pressures?

 

So who won the race ?
