Hi everyone and anyone who can help! I have a 2001 7.3 Lariat Diesel Manual Transmission Dually that I backed off of the drive way. I dropped the rearend off of the edge of the drive hard on the chunk and yanked out of the ditch with tractor. Drove truck about 1/2 mile and it starting shutting down as if it was not getting fuel. Turns over but won't crank. Check fuel shutoff switch. Any help is appreciated!
Open the water drain valve on the fuel filter. After the bowl empties (about 10oz or so), turn on the ignition and observe flow. The pump will run about 30secs and should nearly fill a 32oz bottle.
Fwiw, I always put a piece of hose on the drain line tubing so I can collect and inspect the contents of the fuel bowl.
Meanwhile, does the SES lite come on and stay on when key is in the on position? Have you checked ALL the fuses (under dash AND under hood)?? Does the tach 'bounce' while you are cranking? Is engine full of oil?
Also, this engine WILL NOT start if the PCM sees less than 10.5v while cranking. It will 'turn over' just fine, but never fire... Make sure batts are fully charged now that you are trouble shooting.
A buddy of mine hit an offroad bump, and immediately started having running issues - it was the UVCH - and he used the FTE directions to do the 50 cent mod and all was well. Perhaps you bumped loose this wiring, or some other. I guess I'd check fuses if nothing else works for you.

Same thing happened to another member while on vacation - UVCH... but the engine started on the driver side (very rough).

If you are low on fuel and not on level ground that could be a problem, especially if the in tank pick up foot got damaged. They can rot and fall off all on their own.
So I topped off the oil (which was low from the dealership) and drained the fuel line. It appears that maybe there were some air in the line. So far so good... Hopefully this has repaired the problem! Thanks again for all helpful hints!
