Just curious..I just put a breather where the pcv goes..should I put a pcv on?

Short answer.
Absolutely use a real pcv valve to the intake AND a breather in the front of the valve cover.
There are only pluses no downsides.

No problem! The breather I have doesn't have the tube for the pcv..but I'm running an offy intake..it has a hookup for a vacuum line straight into the intake. I wouldn't use if for anything else..so could I hook up the pcv to that?

The full intake vacuum port is where the pcv valve is supposed to be connected. The pcv valve always has suction when the engine is running. It is at the rear of the valve cover.

The front hole in the valve cover is for the crankcase breather (filtered intake air). It is best connected to the carb air filter housing. Some use a vented and filtered cap there or you can drill a hole in the air filter hosing and use one of these. Only 2 or 3 bucks and one from a GM comes with the retaining clip.

A lot of this stuff you can find at a junk yard and also a good place to learn where things go.

You will have to fatten up the idle circuit to use the PCV valve.

You need crank case ventilation of some kind. The old, polluting road draft tubes are taboo. That leaves a PCV system.
