The CB thread

Well I havent seen a thread like this on here so I decided to make one. Does anyone on here still run a CB? If so post up pics od your set up! I have a Cobra 29 LTC Classic and dual 3' antennas, Im going to pick up a 40 inch whip probably after christmas just for the ease of tuning.

I do usually run a cb in my trucks, just havn't had a chance to put it in the 92 F250 since I bought it earlier this year. I usually run a pair of 3" stainless antennas that are attached to my tool box

I have an old cobra that i put in just for the PA, had some old fiberglass antaneas but one broke so i took them off. Thought i might be able to use em to talk to some friends around the area but the range just wasnt there. Too many hills and whatnot i guess.

I still have CB's in my pickup and big truck. Don't use it in the pickup as much since I don't travel as much in it anymore.

Uniden66 that has been peaked/tuned. I used to have a lil Wil stuck to the center of the roof, but it got in bad shape so I made my own mount to attach to inner fender and support it outside the hood line. They used to be called trunk mounts. I used some 14 ga material I had, bent it up and painted it to match the truck. Works pretty nice. I have the radio mounted to ashtray in truck, works okay as there is not alot of places to put them? Used to have them on the roof in my old bumpsides. Might get me one of those upper hideaway shelfs and see if I can slip it in there.

The Mack has a Uniden 68 with same treatment(same truck stop shop) with a single 2ftr on one mirror. Used to be twins, but they got in bad shape so I just bought one new one.

Got a President Madison base in the house. Same treatment as mobile units. D104 lollipop microphone I bought back in 1980! Don't use it much either, sometimes just to see who's on. Don't have any friends that are into enough.

This is what my ground plane is sorely missing. Only have it on a 10ft pole hooked to vent stack on the house. I really want a tower, but I priced them and it's near $1K for basic parts for 40ft.

Friend had a Moonraker 4 growing up in the late 70's. Man, that thing was awesome hooked to 850w Varmint linear! My ol Realistic Navaho worked well when I brought it over.

How do you like that antenna? I'm looking at one but I would like some real world reviews

the mag mount is great.. its got a spring on it so i can drive under stuff without it tipping over. and if i have to move it i can..

the whip is cool. talks farther and louder. nice clean modulation. we made our own puck mount for it out of aluminum. drilled a hole in the roof and bolted it on with a nice backing plate. people always ask me how the heck its hooked up to the radio cuz you cant see any of the coax... the only downside is that its so dang tall. were always hitting trees and low hanging objects... i made a little string that i can loop around the end and pull it back when necessary.
