rjbunings, welcome to FTE!
The color code is usually listed between the wheel base and the model. In your case, I'm guessing your wheel base is 115" and your color code was left blank....meaning that it was ordered with a 'special-order color', which is likely since you've got four extra digits on your D.S.O. number, indicating it was a special order truck.
Totally agree with Barnie. 115 = your wheelbase in inches. Color was left blank because it is a Domestic Special Order as evidenced by the six numbers in the DSO space instead of the usual two numbers. Model F100 = half ton truck. Body 481= Standard Cab. It will also give you upholstery color and make up, but unfortunately my magic decoder for that info has died. Trans A = 3 speed manual light duty transmission. Axle 09 = 3.70 gears in a Ford 9 inch non-limited slip axle. 5000 = maximum gross vehicle weight rating in pounds. 129 @ 4000 = your NET maximum horsepower and the number of rpms where it's achieved. 223463 = Domestic Special Order from the regional sales office at Charlotte, NC. The light yellow color was probably called Sunlight Yellow. Hope this helps.
The original color....under hood, fire wall, interior looks like a school bus yellow. The truck may have been ordered by a municipality. I notice that some of the South Carolina D.O.T. trucks are painted school bus yellow.... Does any one have any Ideas?
With due deference to ND's expertise, there is such a color as Sunlight Yellow. It may not have been a standard offering on F100 trucks, but it was offered on '64 and '65 Ford Mustangs, Galaxies, and Falcons, and could have been requested to be put on a truck. The car code for it is "V". I have the '64 and '65 Ford car color charts that show it. It's a pale yellow so probably not what you were talking about. Ford trucks also offered a bright yellow called "Chrome Yellow". But since your color spot is empty and you have the six digit DSO code, it's probable that whoever ordered your truck specified some other color - like school bus yellow. As ND said, no records remain to consult - unless you get lucky like I did and find the Build Sheet still in the seatback springs.

The car code for it is "V"
V = Just plain 'ol Yellow not Sunlight listed for 1965 trucks & some 1964/65 Passenger Cars (DL60-1729-A).
V = Emberglow Metallic listed for some 1965/66 Passenger Cars and 1966 trucks. This is the copper color usually seen on Mustang's.
But it doesn't matter what the code is, cuz the OP's truck doesn't have a COLOR code, as it was a Domestic Special Order.
Yeah the only true way to figure things out is go back through the North Carolina DMV records and see who the registered owner was. If it was a company maybe they had a specific color for their vehicles.
