VIN Decode help...

I'm not an expert in VIN's or the other numbers located on the Door plate, please advise:

What can you tell me about my vin number and other number located on the Drivers door? Warrenty #(F10YR844508), WB # (129), COLOR # (8), BODY # (D81), TRANS. (G), Axle (17), HP (172), Rpm (4000) DSO (71)

Thanks guys, I love all your help through this site.

I'll take a stab at the VIN and leave the rest of the info to the experts!

2 Wheel Drive F-100 with the FE engine (352) assembled in San Jose around April 1966.

A big thanks, It's always good to hear the origins of my truck. My grandfather bought it originally in '66 when he lived in Glendale CA. , and Yellow was my grandma's favorite color, so a Special Order "Springtime Yellow" truck shipped to L.A. makes sence. THANKS!

Glendale Ford dealer in 1966 = Jesse Smith on Brand Blvd. In Pasadena = Loud Ford on Colorado Blvd. In Burbank = Burbank Ford, forget where. In North Hollywood = Bill Heath Ford on Lankershim Blvd. Truck prolly was bought at one of these. Or at Ralph Williams Ford in Encino, who was the largest selling dealer west of the Mississippi, and ran 100's of hours of TV ads a week. In 1966, I was a back parts (shop) counterman at Ralph Williams.

Springtime Yellow was a Mustang color originally. Any color available on other Fords, or non stock colors (meaning something grandma's Buick had), could be ordered at the time of purchase. If a non stock color, the code on the door VIN plate will be blank or have SS, which was Fords way of saying special paint.
