I am having problems with the batteries going dead in relatively short order. Sometimes it will start fine everyday for 4 or 5 days in a row and then all of a sudden it wont start. This morning it started fine. I stopped by the store on the way to work and when I came out 5 minutes later it wouldn't crank at all. Charged the batteries all day and it started fine. Had the batteries tested this evening and they tested fine along with the alternator. I can't seem to find any circuits that are drawing any current then the key is off. It seems that it is an intermittent problem so to a certain extent I will have to get "lucky" and catch it. I also seem to have something going on with the radio/ power window circuit. Back in the summer at times the windows and radio would not work right after start up and then start working after 30 seconds or so. This morning just before I got to the store the power to the radio was cutting in and out.
Is there anything I am missing or should be checking that I'm not.
Sounds like the no crank is being caused by something other than weak batteries, especially since your batteries checked good and it wouldn't restart after only a 5 minute stop. Are all of your battery and ground connections are clean and tight?
I would check for loose fuses and relays, especially in the under dash fuse box. Those can vibrate loose over time and cause intermittent problems. Leaking windshields have also been known to cause problems, so look for discoloration and/or corrosion on electrical connectors while you're under there.
The neutral safety switch or starter relay could be intermittent as well. If you can "catch it in the act", try moving the gearshift and see if it that makes it start.

Chris
I am going to check the ends of the battery cables not connected to that batteries next. I hope to get to it this weekend. I will also check out the connections to the central junction box.
I just put a new clutch master cylinder in about 2 months ago and didn't notice any evidence of moisture under the dash but will check that too.
if the drain was big enough to kill them in 5 min you would see the smoke where the wires where burning.
have you checked the CPS? or the under dash thing that i can never remember its name.
