About a month ago I went to start my truck I turned it to wait for the glow plugs and it started making a clicking under the dash. I Would try to start and it would just crank but not start. I removed Relay number 1 under the dash this would stop the clicking. I would move the battery cables around and the cab and under hood lights would turn off and on even when the cables were still on the post. I tried jump starting it and still wouldnt start. It would crank though. Finnaly after awhile of taking the cables off and on the post completely dissconecting both batteries trying to start it a couple of times it turned on. I came home cleaned the post and tightend everything down and it started fine till about a week ago. Then when I would try to start it it would take a little longer to fire up and started making the clicking noise again. So I would wait for the wait to start light to go off then turn it off and then turn it to the wait to start position again and the clicking would be gone and it would start but still took a little effort. I tested the batteries and they were barely good so I went and bought new ones today put them in and it started up better then it had been doing but still wasnt like it should be. I ran to another auto parts store turned it off and went to start it started no porblem . Went to another store turned it off came back probably 2 hours later started fine. Went to another store came out 45 minutes later turned it and waited for the glow plugs and went to start it wouldnt even crank. Everything else like lights radio etc was going. I Checked all the fuses and pushed all the relays in under the dash and hood to make sure none were dissconected. I disconected both batterys waited about two minutes reconected them and it started up fine. I drove home and have started it four times no problem. What do you guys think?
How old are your batteries? Sounds like you are going to be in the market for some soon. Check your cables and all connections (both ends). These engines need full battery power to crank.
