burnt modules

98 F150 2Wd 5.4 sohc vin w? Ran with no pats chip key for a year then altenator spiked 20 volts and burnt PCM,GEM,and Keyless entry module.Can i put 97,98,99 expidition/nav/f150,PCM and GEM modules in truck to make run?Cause i tried and it just starts and dies! no codes and locksmith gave me new chip keys and i got a key fob from explorer to work that the only thing keeping me fom donating it to recycling center?Do i need all modules from same truck ?#s match from f150 pats module to new one from expidition but the GEM module is from SUV and PCM from diff year Expidit? avoiding locksmith and dealer as much as poss since i run my own shop <>thanks Larrysauto?

98 F150 trucks didn't get PATS. F150 first got PATS in 99 (Expedition got it in 97). If the truck you're working on has PATS, it's not a 98. Check the VIN.
