I'm pulling the engine and tranny out of my 73 F350 four door. The 2 driveshafts are like 20 feet long LOL..
I figure I'll remove the driveshaft from the rear end, then remove the center carrier, but my question is, will the yoke just slip out of the tranny or is the yoke solid in the tranny?
The yoke is bolted onto the transmission. You will just remove the driveshaft by unbolting the u joint retaining bolts, much like you would from the rear axle.
I'll disagree with garthneddy. Chances are it's going to be a slip yoke. Look at the yoke, if it has u-bolts like on the differential then it is a bolt on yoke, otherwise it's a slip yoke.
Here's a picture of the slip yoke in a reg cab.
I was assuming he had a 4wd, since he mentioned multiple driveshafts.
The looooong wheelbase of the crew cabs require 2 driveshafts. My reg cab w/ 133" wheelbase has 2 driveshafts.
But you're correct, if it's 4WD then probably a bolt on yoke.

It's 2wd. I had another look this morning and it looks like a slip yoke. Guess I won't know til I actually pull it. I'll post up what it is
If it's a slip yoke go to the auto parts and buy a transmission plug to put in the tranny because the angle you are going to put the motor and trans in to get it out all of the tranny oil is going to pour out of the tail shaft make sure the plug is DRY and make a bunch of wraps with tape on it onto the tail shaft I know you learn from your mistakes if you just stick it in there when you get that hard angle all that oil is going to put pressure on the plug and it will come out and you can only amagine how happy my dad was when he saw all that tranny fluid all over his drive way I think that stain is still there and thats been about 30 years ago just my 2 cents
