So, a co-worker of mine has an 02 Excursion. The keyless entry system on the vehicle is not working. We've found the factory code on the card in the owner's manual. We've also found the code on the entry system module in the dash. They match. Entering the code has no effect on unlocking the doors or programming a personal code. Pressing 7/8 and 9/0 does lock the doors.
When I hooked up the truck to Auto Enginuity and ran the test for keyless entry system, the result simply said "0" for the code.
So, it would appear as though the entry system has dumped the factory set code in the module.
Anyone have any idea if the module can be reprogrammed with a new "factory" code, or reloaded with the original? Obvious preference is not to take it to the dealer.
