Any one care to comment on the easiest / best way to hook up a transfer tank. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and just now thinking about how to do it. I mostly need to know where to tap into the system (fuel line or filler hose) & how to do it.The one I got has a top feed so will need a pump, it's about a 20 gallon tank and it fit in my tool box, pro's and con's on that (can make it invisible but I loose about 1/3 of tool box space.
Ugh. Patience runs out after a while. At least with me it does. I don't know how much crap I'll get here, but I think you should try some php tunes. The only thing different in my setup than yours is the injector size. I know you probably don't have time now, but I'll let you know for sure how they work when I'm towing. Very promising on the test drives though, with controllable egt's and good boost levels. Just a suggestion.
Good luck Glenn. We all know you are on a time crunch, I wish the people that take your money would understand that..
Thanks for your understanding Darin. If this doesn't work out then I'll change tunes for sure. It seems like year after year I have to just go with what I've got without getting it perfect. Today, just to satiety my self I'm going to do a test on the boost gauge with a air compressor to see if it the gauge & line holds pressure and how close the air compressors regulator is to the boost reading. I'm also going to pressurize the system again and look for leaks. All this just for piece of mind, LOL
That's the shi!'s Gabe, pisses me off just hearing that.
I found this interesting today. I set the compressors regular on 25 and tapped into the boost gauge line. The boost gauge showed 25lb. Tried other setting and they all agreed. Then I clamped off the vac line, ran to the cab and my boost gauge was sinking fast. I took the pillar mount off and pressured the vac line again and sprayed soapy water on the connection behind the gauge and lots of bubbles. Any body for a bubble bath?? LOL. So I took that apart and put some thread sealer on it and tighten it up. Pressurized the line again and clamped it off. The gauge reading did not move, YEA!!. Put that back together and pulled the intake pipe and filter and connected the Travis mod up and pressurized the motor. Sprayed the soapy water all over boots, intake manifolds, IC and no bubble EXCEPT the boost gauge Y connection. Throw away that cheap plastic connection, put a brass barb in and no leaks!!! Went for a ride and gained a whole whopping 2 lbs of boost at WOT, now at 36lbs.
This leaves one thing left (LOL) for now, fix my front tank sending unit. My gauge is all over the place and it was filled to the top. That's the problem, I'm not dropping it with a full tank. Go for a ride anybody???
