On my 04 f350 I've had a moan or noise I think is coming from the hydroboost unit or maybe the lines. This started intermittenly maybe a year ago. I did a power steering flush in the spring. This seemed to help some. But now it is back more often. The moan or noise happens when your driving and you let off the gas and it happens when your applying the brakes. This does not happen all the time but is getting more constant. Turning the steering wheel does not seem to create the noise. Nor can I duplicate the noise just by reving the engine and letting off. It only happens when your driving or coming to a stop.
I've done some searching and read that there is a relief valve in the hydroboost that can make this noise. I've also read that there was a problem with the hoses expanding and creating this noise. Has anybody else had this problem and what was your fix. I have a new hydroboost unit sitting there but am not sure this is the true fix.
I havent herd moning but ,like some body hit the floor board thud. the dealer told me it was over boost ,sounds more like a vent closeing to me ,or maybe i ran my wifes cat over lol
I did search about moaning or the droan and did read some about the turbo noise.
But my noise seems directly assosiated with braking. Plus the noise is coming from the drivers side.
Thanks for the links. I read through them but they all talk about brake problems. All the pads all the way around are new within 3-months. The front rotors are new the rear e-brake plate and e-brake pads and hardware are new.
Also some of the turbo droan issues talk about if you have an aftermaket exhaust on it takes it away. I have a kitty delete and 4" cat back installed plus Have always run a SCT tuner with custom tunes and have the ARP studs installed.
The only turbo problem I have is I need to pull the turbo and do the cleaning since my does the chirp on start up on cold days.

If you have a new one just sitting there, why not try it. You can always take it back off.
If I don't have to install a $250 unit but fix it with something else I want to try that. I can always return the new hydroboost.
I have other hydroboosts units I've installed or used on vehicles over the years but have never had an issue like this. Sometimes I've found it's just something simple or something I've overlooked that is the problem.

Sorry, sounded like you owned it and couldn't return it.

I ended up replacing my lines to fix my noise my 06 made that noise for about 2 years the lines fixed the noise but i also had replaced the hydrobooster and pump before the lines its now been good and quiet for the last year
Ya its hard to say because i had replaced my hydrobooster once and out like 2 new pumps on it and still had the noise i finally had to replaced the pump a 3rd time with a ford one not a napa one and replaced the hydrobooster with a used one i bought off ebay so i cant pin point it i do know that with the line replacement it got really quiet i had the pump good bad a napa one within a few hundred miles of replacement thats when i got a ford pump from ford and the used hydrobooster and replaced those that my problems and noise went away completely
