I recently changed over my 73 F100 from a 240 6cylinder to a 302, I almost have everything complete but my key switch will not turn the engine off. I can't figure out what wires are not making contact to kill the engine any help would be greatly apperciated.
It's not a case of making contact but to stop the engine you need to break contact. Either the ignition switch is bad or the ignition is being fed from some other source than the ignition circuit.
Check the wire that goes to the + side of the coil, from the factory it should be a red wire w/ green trace. If that checks as correct start the truck and disconect the wire that goes to the "I" terminal on the starter solenoid then turn the ignition off. If it stops there is more than likely an internal short in the starter solenoid allowing it to continually feed the ignition.
BTW welcome to FTE, lots of good people here.
