Ignition circuit

Lately, I've been starting my truck with a screwdriver across the solenoid terminals after turning my ign switch to the on position.

It was kind of fun at first but now it has ceased to be amusing and I'd like to resume the normal operations.

Is it possible a wire has gone bad between the switch and the solenoid?

Any ideas on where should I begin?

There are a few things that could have gone wrong. 1 cheap auto parts store ignition switch has fallen apart under the dash. I have had this one happen to me. 2 The contact under the ignition switch is corroded. 3 The red/blue wire is cut in the engine compartment. 4 There is corrosion inside the cab to engine compartment connector on the firewall that needs to be cleaned and put back together. 5 The starter solinoid has dirty contacts on the inside and not properly completing the brown wire circuit unlike the screw driver. If you have 30 minutes you'll be able to narrow it down without too many cuts or bruises.

Thank you AirHarley

Following your advice, I got the problem narrowed down to the Ign switch.

Thanks for making it easy.
