If you need to read your EGT, you should probably install a regular EGT probe and gauge. That way you can monitor it all the time, espcially under heavy loads or up long grades.
Try and keep your EGT's below 1200 F, that's a general rule and can go up or down depending on mods, driving style, how often you carry a load or tow. Fuel pressure should be in the 55-60 psi range. One of the really smart guys may adjust this some but these are generally correct.
I, sometimes pull 10k , but daily i pull laround 3500 lbs. total
so, EGT below 1200F...wow...so like someone said in another post :"it is not recomended to turn the truck off when is too hot or at least wait till it cools off to to a least to 450, good on the tranny and turbo etc...? Man im sure learning a lot on this forum. Thanks again FTE.
Most here are against using FRAM filters, and suggest only Motorcraft or RACOR. I am not sure but, maybe this is some of the problem.
The Fram OIL filters for the 6.0 diesel is the same filter as the Motorcraft and Racor oil filters. Same patent #'s on the bottom and the construction is identical.
Fram spin-on oil filters for other applications are JUNK!!
Fram uses cardboard end caps even on their "better than the orange can" filters.
