My 2005 F-250 does not have power when the engine is cold. When the engine warms up then it seems fine. I believe that the fuel injectors need replacement. I was told that one cannot get new injectors. They are all re-manufactured. Is this correct? Also, this job is not for Do-it-yourselfers? I was quoted about $3,500 for parts and labor for all 8 injectors. Thank you all for your feedback.
From reading the comments on this site I have had a Scangauge installed for a couple of years now. My FICM voltage has been reading 47V to 47.5V with the engine cold or hot. I change the oil every 4000 to 5000 miles, using Ford OEM filter and Ford Diesel Oil 10W40. I have never tried any oil additive. I have heard of stiction before but I need to find out what this is since I am not much of a mechanic. I do most of the maintenance items like changing air filter, oil, oil filter, fuel filters, coolant flush, and tranny oil filter and fluid. I suspect that I need fuel injectors because I told someone about the symptom and they said I need new fuel injectors. Thank you for your feedback.

Not sure who "they" are and their qualifications but I'd take you truck to a local diesel mechanic and run a live scan for actual injector results. Some will do it without charge, knowing they'll get your business now or later.
Easy for someone to recommend new injectors when they don't need to do the buying. Stiction fix by cleaning the spool valves comes much cheaper and would probably fix the issue.
I am sorry, Bismic, the oil is 15W40 Motorcraft Super Duty Diesel Oil, not 10W40. Got this from Walmart. : )
I will look into the stiction problem. Thank you for the video, Bob.
Ok good vid. So that shows how to dismantle the spool valve. 2 questions. How do you know if the stiction is caused by the sv and if it is, what do you do to fix it?
Stiction is usually misfiring or rough running when cold, goes away when warm. You don't mention rough running, just lack of power. As I understand it the engine management strategy does several things to restrict power and hasten warm up, this would include a different turbo vane setting strategy and transmission shifting strategy (uses a different fourth gear). I definitely notice this until the temps are above around 160 degrees. Could this be what you are experiencing?
The engine does not run rough when cold. It just didn't have power. When I give it more diesel, the engine acts like it's choking, or maybe this is classified as rough running? I have to ease up on the accelerator pedal then. But base on Brian's input, it could very well be that I have stiction. I need to find out how to get to the spool valves. : ) I think that if I do this spool valve cleaning first and it does not solve the problem then the problem is the injectors. Thank you all for your help!
The spool valves are in each injector. You need a proper scan tool reading the codes from each injector, and an injector contribution and balance test on the scan tool. You need to be doing proper diagnosis before changing parts, if you don't know enough about it before you go in you could be fixing the wrong thing. These are complicated modern motors, EGR valvle, sensor values could all cause parts of your symptoms. Spend the money on a proper diagnosis or you will be chasing your tail with your wallet open.....
