I upgraded my Glow Plug Relay (GPR) about three months ago. I ordered two of them from here and paid 69$ shipped. Motor Contactor 12 volt
This is the same link as the one in my signature. It is a 200 amp 12 volt contactor/relay. Ed asked me about my install so I decided to snap a picture and draw some arrows in ms paint to give you dimensions of my bracket I built. Enlarge the picture for details.
It is a much larger GPR than the original 100 amp stock one.
I started with a piece of metal 4.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. I do not know gauge thicknesses so I can't tell you how thick it was. I bent a 90 degree angle at the centerline so now I have two equal lengths of approx 2.25 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. The center line at the 90 degree bend is indicated by a green dashed line.
The top hole indicated by the white arrow was drilled 1 3/8 inch from the green dashed line upward(indicated by black line) and from the right edge it was 3/4 inch indicated by the yellow arrow. I used a 1/4 inch drill bit and used a 6mmx20mm bolt to secure the bracket to the GPR.
The bottom hole was drilled 1 7/16 inches from the centerline (indicated by long red arrowed line) and 7/16 inches from the right edge(indicated by short red arrowed line). I also used a 1/4 inch drill bit for this hole. It gave me some room to work with in case my measurements were slightly off or my fabrication skills were slack. I used the original stud from the factory with the original nut to secure the bracket to the engine bay.
The original wires bolted up just fine. I tried the signal(small wires) both directions to see if one worked and the other did not. It worked in both directions so you can't get it backwards.
One relay will cost you about 37$-39$ shipped so I just ordered two to offset the cost of shipping and I had a backup if there were ever any issues.
It is running smooth but I do live in the southeast and temps don't get blizzard cold like the northern states.
I hope this helps you in your Glow Plug Relay search.

Dwayne, Thanks for the photo and write up I'm getting ready to preemptively replace my gpr and glow plugs and looking at the cost of stock replacement I am considering going with a upgrade on the gpr.
I just did this mod with the Stancor upgrade. It got down to 36 here last week and truck fired right up. Previously it wouldnt start below 40 with out 20-30 min of the block heater going.
Good job with the vertical mount. The round contact plate will last much longer. Mountimg it horizontally will, at some point, cause the contact plate to stop spinning and always use the same two spots for contact.
I'm still on my original glow plugs (that I know of) and I just barely replaced the GPR for the first time last month with one from Riffraff. Truck fired up no problem at 11* a few days ago, not plugged in. I still have the penny glow plugs laying in the toolbox for whenever that happens someday....
I have the Early 99 so I don't have a AIH relay. It was never a stock item so no wires to remove. Look very close at my spider where the AIH port SHOULD be at. There is not a hole for a AIH. Yeah! One less thing to delete lol. It would be nice to have that hole for a boost gauge but I purchased a used 38R and Used bellowed up pipes from SkyskiJason and plan on converting it over. I will get his coated up pipes, coated 38R, spider(with port for boost gauge via AIH delete). I did just purchase new boots and T-bolt clamps for the change over.
