Also, when I pull up to something and take it out of gear or clutch it, the rpm’s will stay or revs anywhere between 1000 – 1800. After about 10 to 45 seconds, it will kick down, or sometimes I can goose the accelerator and it will kick down. Also the rpm's stay high when I'm changing gears. It's a PITA changing the gears when the synchros are failing and the revs are high.
Any help or suggesting (besides putting a bullet in her) are greatly appreciated! - jeffrey

sounds like sticky linkage/cable to me..

unless of course if your truck is a 05+ (which is drive by wire throttle)

Sticky cable. I wouldn't have ever thought of that. The truck is a 99 model year. Do I have to replace the cable or is there a recommended way to clean it? Thanks for all the help!

Do a search. Someone had a similar problem recently and it turns out cable was hanging up on something up near throttle body. Or maybe you can wd40 the throttle cable you have to loosen it up.
