New cam came in..major worry..

Ok..the comp cam and kit came in today. Upon inspecting..I noticed a groove in the first cam journal..I called summit and they said it is most likely the oiling groove. Anybody have anything similiar to ease my mind? It's about 2 in long and tapered directly in the center

Well..I have a helluva description..its about 2 inches long directly in the center going horizontal in the middle of the journal. It's tapered at both ends and smooths out back to the smooth part. It looks straight and clean like its been machined and its only at the very front journal

Personally, I do not recall ever seeing a cam journal as you are describing (in my mind anyway).

I confirmed its just the oiling groove. Did a search and on another formum the question was asked about the same cam and engine. It's so it splashes oil onto the timing gear for lubrication.

Got the hardware kit today..does the beveled side of the spacer ring go towards the engine or away?
