I have a 2008 F-250, 6.4. Both my tail lights quit working. Brake lights work, turn signals work. I can't find a bad fuse. I think that tail lights and brake lights are on the same fuse, but not sure. Number 6 on the fuse panel on the inside behind the right side kick panel. Bulbs are good. Called dealer and they thought it could be a grey wire that comes out of the light switch and goes to the fuse junction box.(fuse box)
Any Ideas??
Anyone know if there is a separate fuse for just the tail lights?
I had to get some lights for towing that plug into my trailer harness and zip tie them to the bumper. Jeff Foxworthy would get a kick out of the way it looks. Ya know your a redneck if.....................
Fuse 22 is the park lamp relay feed. The lights that don't work are your parking lights, right? Did you check the front of the vehicle to see if the front ones (amber) are working?
The trailer lights are fed differently, so using them is a very clever workaround.
Thanks , I'll check that out. I get a lot of ribbing from in-laws for my unique uses of duct tape and zip ties. But this works pretty well until I get this figured out.
I checked my front park lights and they work. Park lights on mirrors work, I pulled fuse #22 and it is good, and front park lights go out with the fuse being taken out like they should. But still no rear park lights/tail lights.
I'm stumped on this one,
Does anyone know if after the fuse junction box there is a rear harness connector that I could pull apart and check for voltage there in an attempt to isolate the problem.
They may have become disabled in the BCM, I have had a few oddities in my shop with tail lamps on newer superdutys. Since I do own an IDS system I am able to go in and reenable them. You might want to pull a tail light and make sure the bulb is good, if so I would try disconnecting the battery for a while and see if they come back to life. Past that you will need a dealer or private shop with proper equipment
Did they both go out at the same time, or did they go out 1 by 1 ??? It is possible that they went out 1 by 1, and you have 2 blown bulbs. Do your 2 license plate lamps work ??? They are on the same circuit as the tail lamps. If they work, then you probably have 2 blown tail lamp bulbs. If they also do not work, then you may have a corroded connector under the truck. Follow the harness forward from the driver's side tail lamp. There should be 2 connectors, 1 just under and forward of the tail lamp, and one further forward under the cab. The tail lamps, parking lamps, and license plate lamps are all on 1 fuse.
