Interior courtesy lights not working, please help.
All the lights work inside the truck fine, but the lights next to the dome lights don't work. These are the lights that you actually have to hit the selector switch to make the smaller lights turn on so you can read a book or whatever. I looked through the fuse chart and there doesn't seem to be a dedicated fuse to these three sets of lights on the ceiling. What or where else do I need to look for the answer?
Check the bulb first. Are both out? Or all 4 if it's a cre cab? Probably a fuse then. The charts in the owners manual can name things a little funny sometimes, I've found... so just look at the fuses under the dash to see if you see any that are blown, and then see what they call them in the manual. That's what I'd do.
Check Fuse #4 listed at 10 amps. It powers the map lights, front & rear, the glove compartment lamp, the engine compartment lamp, and the vanity mirror lamps in the visors. The dome lights and other lights that work when the doors open are on Fuse #14, also a 10 amp.
All four bulbs are good. The dome lights work, the hood light works, the sun visor lights work. Everything else seems to work fine, but the darn switch lights overhead. I will check fuse #4 and #14 as suggested, but since everything else is working fine, I assume both of these fuses are still working, right?
If the rest of the bulbs on that circuit work then the fuses are probably good. Which leaves you a pinched or loose wire or a bad ground, and I don't thnk it's the ground.
Anyone know where I can get a complete fuse box diagram? Bought my 01 f250 used from a dealer without an owner's manual, and have several electrical issues.
Haynes has a "service manual" that has a set of electical diagrams in the back of it. AutoZone and stores like it sell it for $17 or so, E-Bay usually has them for $11 + shipping.
