I usually post in the 67-72 forum, but i also have a 1977 f-100, so now i am in this post. has been doing great, but yesterday noticed no taillights. have turn signals and backup lights, but no tail lights or marker lights. Are these on a fuse in the fuse panel? everythhing else works. have headlights, and front markers, but nothing on the rear. Anyone have any ideas?
Yes, there is a fuse in the fuse box for tail lights, check to make sure the fuse is not blown, replace it if it is blown and then investigate why it blew so you can correct the problem. From the sounds of your post you have a broken brown wire some where between the firewall and the rear of the trruck, does your rear side marker lights or the license plate light work? They all use the brown wire for power. If the fuse was blown you would not have any running lights front or rear. Find the brown wire at the firewall on the drivers side by the master cylinder that runs to the back of the truck, unplug the connector and see if you have power there with a test light or VOM, if so, continue to chase the wire along the frame rail to the tail lights and look for a break in the wire. -Ed

Thanks for the quick reply. i do have front marker lights. have rear turn signals, but that is all in the rear. no tag light or tail lights or brake lights. just turn signals. had to leave truck in yard for a few hours, and have a dog that is famous for chewing. i suspect this is my trouble. will start checking as soon as i get home. again thanks.
