Question Blown Fuses

The other day, my wife noticed that I didn't have any tail lights on my 84 F250. The brake lights work but not the tail lights. There's power at the fuse but, apparently, too much power is being drawn as it blows every fuse that I put in there almost immediately. Does that mean that I have a short circuit, somewhere, and what's the best way to tackle this problem?

You do have a short circuit. You said the taillights are out. If it's the fuse I am thinking about, your marker lights up front should be out too. The circuit that the fuse serves is a brown wire. It runs all over the truck, powering all the running lights.

The first thing I would do is think about any work that has been done recently to the truck. Any trailer wiring added? Any other major repairs? Have running boards with lights been added? Any other non-factory running lights been added? That would be where I would look first.

After that I would start finding major harness plugs, and unplug sections of the truck to see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for the advice, Franklin. A connection for trailer lights was added. I don't need it so I think that I will start there by eliminating that splice.

THANKS, AGAIN!
