Anyone know where I can get that little plastic pointer that slides into the cutout in the shift collar on a 65-66 automatic shift...? Are they still available or is there anyone that might have one in their pile of goodies?
Anyone know where I can get that little plastic pointer that slides into the cutout in the FoMoCo service part replacement shift collar on a 65-66 automatic shift?
Little plastic pointer: Your shift collar has been replaced with one from a 1973/77 F100/350 (and etc), as it uses D3TZ-7A110-A plastic pointer that slides into a groove in the collar.
The original 1965/72 shift collars had the pointer made as part of it. I located exactly 1 NOS if you're interested.
D5TZ-7228-A (replaced C5TZ-7228-A & B, C9TZ-7228-A, D3TZ-7228-A) .. A/T Shift Collar KIT-includes pointer / D5TZ-7228-A kit available from Ford.
Thanks Bill. You are correct. I forgot that I also switched out the steering column when I switch everything from a 74' along with the power steering. DAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I have a 1966 F-250 that he shift lever does not stay in park that is more than likely caused by wear. what part do I need to replace, I have not taken it apart yet.

Welcome to FTE. In the future, starting a new thread will usually yield better replies rather than piggy backing onto an older thread.
That being said, often the detent plate can be worn and causing your problem. Not always the case though so be sure to inspect the shift lever as well. Check for wear at the point it engages the plate (there's also a spring hidden in there too) and also that it is firm where it mounts in the collar. You should also check and adjust the linkage as it relates to the transmission. All can/will play a part in your issue.
