Agreed. No doubt I've created a bunch of scenarios in my mind. Some extremely funny, others not so much.
Spare is a stock 16" steelie 8 lug off of a later model truck. Around here they're a dime a dozen. Well maybe not that cheap. Under $25, tire included, at the local pick & pull.

Transmission Shift Detent
Had issues with the truck slipping out of park in the past. Finally decided to tackle the issue. Was figuring parts were worn down, in particular the detent plate. Turned out not being the case.
Upon closer inspection, it's quite obvious that the hole in the shift collar, where the roll pin attaches the shift arm is worn, but only at the top, thus creating enough slop to cause a problem.
Not wanting the hassle of buying and painting a new shift collar, I used a ss oval head bolt and lock nut. A simple and cheap fix for a change. Shifts nicely now, and holds Park solid.

Got around to fixing the door pocket trim pieces. Both had been painted over and were cracked in several places. Passenger side was also missing about a 12" segment. Epoxied and reinforced with fiberglass mesh. "Chrome" painted, they look better than what they were, but certainly no match for the real thing.
Eventually, I'll change the upper panels and trim. I already have a set of trim that doesn't look like Swiss cheese. Still searching for green armrests though.

Agreed. I wound up going with Rustoleum just because. Never really expected it to be chrome 'cause I know it ain't. I'll admit though even after probably 30+ years of using the stuff, I still can't help hoping that this next one will be the one that actually looks like the da mn cap. Oh well. At least we can enjoy the fact that there ain't much plastic on these old trucks. Most everything else is real and can be polished.

By now, it should be obvious that I'm a big fan of "free". So, when a set of late model hubcaps were offered to me, of course I said yes. Certainly not what I really wanted, but after finally getting around to painting them, they don't look half bad.

Where did you get the "Camper Special" plastic inserts for your "F 250" fender badges? Mine are totally shot and have never seen them offered for sale.

Talk to FTE member Randy, Boss9F100. He had a bunch made and did a real nice job. Might still have a couple left although when I picked up mine (I think last November) they were selling quick. No one else that I know of makes them.

Thanks
235/85R16s out back and to help make up for the lack of power steering, I kept it a bit skinnier in front with 215/85R16s. Figuring that original hub caps for the F250 are darn near impossible to find I didn't keep the original wheels and went with later model steelies instead. At least that way hub cap choices are pretty much endless.
