When I crank my wheels all the way right my ABS light comes on. Doesn't happen if I crank all the way left. Started last night.
Taking the truck to the dealer this afternoon for it's new alternator and FICM. Anything I should have them look for in the brake system? I'm getting ready to do a full flush on it, but haven't done it yet...
Have a look around the front wheels and see if one of the ABS
sensors is chafing. If you don't see any chafing have someone watch the
light and move the cables around by hand and when the light comes on you have it
It should be easy to find the cables plug into the unit bearing on the back
side of the front wheels.
interesting. mine just came on for about 15 seconds, then went away when i restarted the truck and have not appaered ever since. i've even had it scanned with AE and still nothing. hmmmm....... maybe an abs sensor going out? if i'm not mistaken, the electronic system has a backup system to override the abs light if possible. i dunno if tats wats masking the real prob, if there is a prob at all. maybe i'm being paranoid?
The ABS light illuminated on my dash during my drive this past Sunday. It popped completely out of the blue, right in the middle of a long highway ride. It is still on. I have a cheap OBDII cable and ScanMaster software on my laptop - but it was of no help. It reads CEL codes (I have P0678 - Cylinder 8 glow plug circuit illuminated for a while) but not ABS system.
Is there a ford specific cable/software I can purchase do more extensive diagnostics including ABS and other systems on this truck?
What you need something that can read the GEM and ABS modules.
A Snap-On will do this If you have the MT2500 you need the CANBUS
adaptor but if you have access to a Solus or higher you only need the
personality keys. That being said I was thinking of selling my Snap-On MT2500
the only thing it will need is a new set of keys and it will cover up to 06.
Is there a cheaper way? For instance, for Toyota vehicles they sell a cable for less than $100 on ebay with complete Toyota Techstream package that reads every system on every Toyota/Lexus/Scion with OBDII system.
I don't know what all it will read but there is an app for
both the android and iphones that uses the wifi thingies
you can get on Ebay.
What I don't know if they will give you the other data from the
GEM and ABS. I know that the Snap-On will. By the way I am not
asking an arm and a leg for it. If you want I can post some photos.
