another problem from my rat rod

ok new problem is brand new battery..new connections..will only start on a jump start..can drive it up and down the road but once you stop and try to start it up again you get that clicking noise like the connection is bad..but it will start with a jump..idk somebody help me out

Wonder if the new battery is bad, or if you have a draw short that is killing the battery.

Go back to place of purchase and have it tested, in the vehicle preferably.

break out the voltmeter.

black lead on battery negative.
red lead on starter terminal.
hit the key.
how many volts have you got?

ok thanks..i have a battery load tester..ill try that first

Make SURE the battery you buy has the teminals in the same location as the original. Some peeps don't pay attention, buy a GM or Mopar battery that have the terminals REVERSED.

Then when they install it, they hook the battery cables up bassackwards.

check your new cables too , if they are Autozone specials i've had them fail where they are connected

well i put the load tester on it and it showed the charging system was bad..so i charged the battery i was messing around under the hood and found the negative hookup on the brand new alternator had come unplugged..so yea i found the problem
