Have read many posts, watched youtube videos so feel I can tacle this pretty easily. Have a few questions prior to doing it... Have seen/read people pulling the 2 1/8 allen bolts inside the head and letting it drain for 30 min prior to pulling injectors. Have also seen/read people pulling the rear injectors first. I do not have anything to vacuum the injectors so will be just forcing oil out the through the glow plugs. Do I need to do rear first? and should I crank over by hand prior to turning over by key? Also where exactly do I pry on the injector to remove? No clear video or pics I could find.
I never pull the allen head plugs... Do pull rear injectors first so most of the oil and fuel will go in those cylinders. I use a piece of 3/16" brake line tubing on Mighty Vac hose to slurp out cylinders, then install injectors, then turn engine over a couple revs by hand before installing GP's.
If not installing new UVCH's, be sure to do the $0.50 mod. Don't use aftermarket UVCH's or VC gaskets!!
After you remove the injector hold down bolt, the collar will slide up and off the other bolt. Then you pry up on the collar. I like to use a medium length prybar (12"??).
Mighty Vac is only $30ish and a couple bucks for a piece of brake line tubing... I dont recommend usong starter to spin engine over, especially if cylinders are full of liquid. I usually spin by hand again after its all together - just for good measure!
