AE is the Ticket, no doubt, but Torque Pro for Android gets you half way there for peanuts. Reads/clears codes, check your HPOP, buncha other nifty features. But no testing utilities like Perdels or buzz test.

I regularly post from my phone! You don't get to see the sig. line on the mobile version, but its quick and easy. It's also easier to post links (bad word haha) on the full site.
The power of the new technology in a more compact package far exceeds my 8+ year old laptop. I'm wondering if it will even run AE or fast enough...lol. Something to look into...

I can answer this: I have a 2-year-old netbook with an Atom processor that's like watching an etch-a-sketch draw the screen, and I have a laptop with 8 64-bit processors and a powerful GPU. Each has AE installed and I've logged data with both. While the screen-change is faster on the laptop, the AE interfacing is exactly the same - the OBDII protocol is much older than your laptop.
Not so much: My netbook doesn't have an optical drive, but I have other computers that do. I copied the AE install to a SD card (or thumb drive, etc...) and it worked. The security dongle takes care of their concerns for copyrights.

Funny you mention that, I had to do that exact same thing here at work with a new netbook. Considering we are a electronics company, our IT guys didn't even have a thumb drive for me to borrow! But they did let me borrow their portable drive with USB connections...
Even we have app's for our products for Droid and iOS (small company).
