take your time

i dont know how everyone else does it (if there is a different way) but i started by removing the 4 T20 torqx screws. Careful, once these are removed not to drop it. Disconnect the electrical connection and put the top piece in a safe location, preferably away from debris. Next remove the two 8mm bolts on the top and bottom sides of the injector. Then remove the oil spout which is an allan bit i cant remember the size though. Then your ready to pull the injector.

you may have to pry them out gently with a pry bar

when replacing the o-rings ( if doing this for the new ones) you must be careful. Dont scratch the grooves where the orings seat. Dont roll the oring onto the injector, it stretches it more. Let the injector sit for 10 minutes before installing to let the orings shrink back down to size. and oh yeah, coat the new orings in oil first. THe copper washer can be held in place with grease and make sure it doesnt fall off during installation.

before installing the injector, dip it in a fresh coat of oil, set it in the hole and seat it. you will be able to tell when its seated, it will go from a "thump" sound to a "thud" sound. do not use anything metal on them. use a rubber mallet or a block of wood and a hammer. using a metal hammer will damage the electronics. lastly, make sure all injectors are level and seated properly. Torque all the bolts down to specs and make sure all electrical connections are fully seated.

after your done installing the injectors, pull the glow plugs for those cylinders. then manually crank the engine with the pulley with a big breaker bar on a socket that i cant remember the size (24mm maybe?). reinstall the glow plugs once all of the oil has been purged from the cylinders (might want to put cardboard, valve covers, etc. over them - the y shoot far haha)

EDIT: pay attention to how everyhing came apart so you will know how to put it back together. The 8mm screw with the big sleeve goes on the top, etc.

AND make sure to put your oil spout back on before the top piece
AND the magnetic square between the injector and top piece, if it has grooves, those grooves face down onto the injector and you will see which way the notch goes (if it has one) by looking at the bottom of the top piece very closely(it is almost burnt in looking)

There is only one 8mm bolt to remove. on the bottom side of the injector there is a sleeve, you will see 2 bolts but will only be able to get to the one on the outside(side pointing away from cylinders). Remove this one bolt which will loosen the coller you took it out of. Now that the coller is loose slide it towards the cylinder this will take it off of the remaining bolt and you may use a pry bar or screwdriver, lightly, on this coller to remove the injector.

Here is a step by step
1.Remove valve cover
2.Remove UVC
3.remove 8mm bolt to outside of injector
4.slide the coller of injector towards the center of the truck
5.As the coller is slid out of the way, lightly pry up on the injector
6.injector will pop up and oil will drain into the cylinder
7.Remove injector and replace orings
8.Manually crank engine over to rid the cylinder of all that oil
9. rub grease/oil on orings of injector before sliding into place
10. slide injector in, may take a slap to seat it ( remember to have the coller slid as far inas you can when you are trying to seat these injectors.
11. Once injector is in, slide coller over bolt
12. install and torque remaining 8mm bolt to 20lbs( may not be accurate torque)

I wouldnt touch the four hex on the top, cause you can pull the injector without taking it apart.

I have never heard of coating the injectors in oil, just the o-rings. ????

Plus, do NOT take off the 4 torx screws. Thats actually part of the injector you dont need to disassemble.

Its helps the o rings sit into the sleeve a little better, kinda slide in there with minimal movement and really stops little tears.
