Swapping pumpkins is easy and relatively inexpensive. However, finding a 2.75 with limited slip might be a bit challenging. IIRC, more common with 3.25 and numerically higher gear.
You'll want to find a pumpkin with an "L" between the numbers denoting it has limited slip.. for example, a 3.50 pumpkin's tag would read "3 L 50". Again, always verify the gear and the fact that it does have an LS before ya plunk down your cash.
Cool, thanks. Would I be better to go aftermarket or oem for the limited slip? Any suggestions/ reccommendations?
I am familiar with the tag readings.."L" codes and gearing. I run a tbird IRS in my 51 Chevy. Just haven't really dealt with a 9. If I find a LS, could I swap my 2.73 gear onto it?
I am building this truck to live a life of liesure as a retirement hot rod to cruise around the Villages, Fla....a huge retirement center. He is replacing one he had way back when. It will be a cruiser, but may pull a boat from time to time. Having a 460, I don't want to gear it too low to keep drivability and economy (HA!). Would a 3.25 make a big jump? How does Ford adjust speedo gearing?

Ford adjusts the speedo by matching the driven gear at the end of the speedo cable at the tranny.
A 3.25 gear is decent for getting off the line with a boat and a highway gear too... it's an acceptable compromise. Being ginger off the line with a 2.75 is doable too.
Researching a Summit Trac loc and a powertrax no slip. Any opinions on either? The powertrax says no setup, 1 hr install. Would the trac loc from Summit have to set the lash, etc.?
You will need to set up the ring and pinion if replacing the current open carrier with a limited slip carrier. The Powertrax installs into the open carrier, replacing the spider gears so there is no need to mess with the gear set. This will be much cheaper, easier and faster.
