Ford x Plan

I am looking to purchase a 2012 F250 using the xplan and was wondering if anyone has used it? If so can you please tell me if it is a good deal.

Thanks

I bought both my recent trucks without it. I have access to xplan pins and used it for the 08mustang but was able to negotiate a better than xplan deal on the trucks.

I dont have my research anymore but xplan was around 500-1000$ over what i ended up paying. It is much easier though no hassle. Im a cheap ******* and am willin to ut up with alot of hassle for 800$

Depends on which engine you are looking at. If the 6.7L PSD, then prob going without it...will be better.

However...if purchasing the 6.2L, then it might serve you well. No haggle and less time at the dealer...is so worth it to me. Yeah...my time...and stress free...is valuable.

I'm a X-Plan member...and it worked for me.

Xplan is very hit or miss.

I found better deals not using it.

A or D plans are better if you can get one.

Of course they are better they are for employee's and their immediate families.

Being a 2012 you may be able to do better if the truck was sitting on the lot for several months and they need to move it. X plan works best on vehicles that are easy to sell and therefore no incentive to come off of MSRP. Before '08 it was rare to do better than X plan price, now with the economy it can be done but still only on something that has sat for a while. The other great thing about it is NO BS you sign a few papers, give them the check and you are done, you'll be out of the dealer in 30 minutes.

That being said, my time is worth more than hanging around haggling with dealers. Anyone willing to share a X plan pin with me?

I used to work for TRW years ago and was able to use the X-Plan on a new F150. If I remember correctly, the X-Plan is basically 4% above the A-Plan price. If you are eligible, have the dealer quote you thir best deal both with and without.

When I ordered my new 2012 F-250 6.2L a couple months ago X-Plan was actually about $1k higher than the dealer invoice price which is what they were selling it for.

Nope. X plan stipulates that the customer nor dealer will not negotiate beyond the set xplan. If you want to try both you will need to go two dealers. Try negoitaing at the dealer with better reputation on price; and xplan at the other

My thanks to all. I agree if i am buying off the lot the deal will probably be better negotiating rather then using the xplan. If special ordering, which I might do, I believe the xplan is the better way to go.

again thanks for the advice

I used the X plan to buy my '05 and it was a better deal. As stated above the price is 4% over employee price (A Plan?) but you still get to take all the available incentives off that. The "X" price is stated on the dealer invoice from Ford and there is no negotiation. I made out well on my deal but that a generation ago!

You can see the incentive plan details here:
https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerw...tner_rules.htm

For X-Plan, it is dealer invoice plus 0.4% plus $275. Not 4% as mentioned above, but zero point 4%. Which is $40@$10,000. All the usual customer rebates still apply.

We bought a Fusion a few months ago, and I qualified for X-plan. If you're going to buy, and if you can get an X-plan pin, I suggest you do it. It costs nothing to be prepared with the PIN. Just keep it in your pocket and negotiate your best price. Chances are good you can beat the X-plan. If not, come back next week and use your PIN. As it ended up, we beat the plan price and I still have the X-plan PINs which are good for a year. Didn't cost anything to have them available.

Incidentally, there are multiple versions of the X-plan. Some can be transferred to friends or family, some cannot. Mine cannot. In either case, the vehicle price formula is the same.

Always ask (demand!) to see their Ford invoice. It will have the various plan prices on it, including X-plan. So you will know the target you are trying to beat without revealing that you have a PIN.
