I just got an email back from ATP .
As I suspected the flex plate does not come with the sheet metal drive plate . Back to square one again .
I'm going to swap my old style flywheel out for a new style and put a want ad out for the crankshaft/flex plate spacer .

Very curious what modding was needed.

I am fixing to swap my 86 6.9's C6 to a 91 E4OD. I was going to take the flexplate too but searching here pointed out the 6.9 and 7.3 are different balance. So I'll need to keep the C6's flexplate - what mods were needed??

Thanks,
- Jeff

I spaced the transmission back with a piece of 1/8" aluminum cut to match the bell housing face.

From what I remember, the C6 has the torque converter set back further in the bell housing than the E4OD.

Its been a while but I think the E4OD was about 7/8" while the C6 seemed to go back almost 1 1/8". Check to make sure though because fords are supposed to be 1" nominal backset between the bell housing face and the torque converter face.

Billet converters may also interfere with the crank shaft bolts.

Wow those must have both been "interesting" to discover, thanks to you I'll be a little better prepared. For this at least LOL!

Thanks,

The e4od has a lock up converter so it's converter is thicker .
Anything is possible . Based on the info I've found on FTE , dieselstop, oilburners, the spacer with a 1991 e4od flex plate should work on a c6 .
If I can locate the parts I'll put up pictures and any potential pit falls or successes I find !
