delta's with coolant filter

looking for thoughts on my situation. 2004 6.0 since I've owned it no extreme problems with the delta's. It started getting to 15*ish, decided to flush the cooling system with restore & +. refilled with elc silicate free and distilled. Installed a homemade coolant filter at the same time. Using napa head and a 4070 non-charged filter. went thru a bunch (6) pretty quick with a new delta of 4-6*. Pretty pleased with it. tapped the feed from the heater hose and returned to the Y connection under the reservoir.

after running the last filter for 2500ish miles, the deltas flipped meaning the ect would run 2-4*higher than eot. after checking everything I decided to change the filter. temps went back to normal. doing it again so I'll change the filter again hopefully it will go back to normal.

the filters don't seem clogged when I cut them open. and I would think with the filter clogged the flow bypass the filter. before I switch the return to the radiator degass line . I looked at the 6.0 bible to look at how the coolant flows but I could have screwed up.

any thoughts?

My truck did that and I disconnected and reconnected the sending units. Everything went back to normal. You may have a high resistance connection. My ect's were running 5 to 7 degrees hotter than the eot.

All I did to correct the deltas last time was change the coolant filter which is the source of my befuddlement.

New, old or no filter will change the eot/ect's. It is a bypass system and cannot make a change like that. If your saying a new filter helped over time, like thousands of miles, possible.

I changed the coolant filter like I did the last time the deltas flipped and they didn't correct like they did the last time. I wiggled the connectors around and it corrected the deltas. I'm guessing the connectors pigtails are loose inside ( new sensors) as the truck has 210k on the clock.

on a differant note, I cleaned the the air temp sensor on the intake manifold as it was completely clogged with black ick. I expected my truck run better or get better fuel economy or something, I'm only getting 14-15. I had ficm repair fix my ficm and add the atlas 40. my mileage went down a little and I'm a fairly conscience conservitive driver. I enjoy playing the get the best mpgs game. I don't let it idle anymore than before even with cooler temps.

would deleting the egr cooler help? I have an sct tuner with v10 tunes in it, I just need to get some 6.0 tunes, recommendations??

thanks in advance and sorry for being long winded
