So I finally got my truck out of storage and completely forgot I had somewhat of an issue back when I put it in.
It shakes toward the front and back not side to side when I brake hard. However it will do it sometimes when I do not brake hard.
I replaced everything from the front proportioner valve back, so only stock stuff is the lines off the master cylinder, master cylinder and booster, front proportioner valve, and front hubs.
Im wanting to fix this as im going to sell the truck to hopefully buy a supercab or crewcab as I need more room in the cab.
Its a 4x4 d44 f150 running 351M auto and divorced np205. Anyways truck drives great and handles fine just sometimes when I brake this thing feels like the hulk is rocking it back and forth real hard.
If you feel it from the seat it may more likely be out of round drums. Warped or non-parallel rotors can often be felt in the steering. My dads F250 had rotor issues at one time and did this.
drums are brand new, someone told me it might be the disks.....and I was like I swear it better not be as that might actually take a minute to switch unlike most everything ive already done with the brakes.
If you creep forward with a foot lightly on the brakes and then feel the brakes GRAB... and then releaseeee andthenGRAB and releaseeee... They're warped rotors. If your steering is tight enough you should be able to feel it in the steering wheel too.
If the rotors are actually warped, you may feel the pedal pulsate as you brake. Could be a lot of things though, possibly shocks or radius rod bushings.
Yea, might be able to fix with simply having the rotors turned if they aren't too bad.
Once rotors are warped, they are warped for life. Turning warped rotors is a study in futility. You'll turn 'em, blue heat spots will disappear, but they'll be back before you know it
