Sorry about short reply wife was giving the stink eye.
If you decide to remove the distributor you can pull the cap, take a permanent marker, mark where the rotor is pointing on the edge of the distributor, then also make a mark on the engine where the vacuum advance is pointing. Then when you put it back together you just line the marks up. Just don't rotate the engine at all while the distributor is out.
It looks like I found some trouble... I have no idea how to hook up the throttle cables, I have 2 springs, and the original cable that connects to the lever...
Sorry for the late reply
And yes mine was also a rod, it came in with the carb
I hooked it up and all, just that it was a pain in the Butt to adjust the timing, it's set right now how it was when I took it off, I have a timing light and made sure it was set to how I had it right now. But it still idlles like crap, Well I wouldnt say like crap I mean rough. It does respond Well though. I tried adjusting the fuel /air mixture, but I couldn't turn it clockwise like an instruction video I saw on YouTube. So now I plan in taking it to a shop or something... Unless I find out what's going on
Oh, and I'm not sure if I installed my carby, I will post a pic tomorrow of what I mean
Well it's been a long day here with my Ford today, I think I'm calling it day for today
Here is the picture, sorry for the blurrines i took a quick shot
On my edelbrock carb came with an instructions paper, and it said to place the carb gasket to the manifold, then the edelbrock gold plate on top of the gasket, then place the carb on top ot the gold plate adapter
Is that ok? Or did i have to place another gasket on top of the gold plate adapter?

Not trying to but in, but yes you will need another gasket on top of the gold plate, in fact if it will idle without one it should be great with one. I don’t see a ball stud on the carb linkage to hook up the linkage, if the carb was not got with a "Ford" linkage, you have to purchase separately. The first pic of the bag-o-goodies looks kind of like a throttle cable relocation bracket, but it’s kind of hard to tell. BTW to set timing it should be done with vacuum disconnected and plugged. You can also see if the mechanical advance is moving by watching timing marks as you raise rpm. Without a advance timing light you won’t know how much or when though. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, and after I took the pic I found the ball stud that came with the carby and placed it on there
And yes, I used a timing light to set it
I have it at 10 degrees right now, and I will put it on the dyno tomorrow and set my fuel /air mixture screws
