Help with edelbrock intake install

Hi guys, i will be dropping a brand new intake and carb on my 400m
The intake is the 2171 and carb will be 1406 edelbrock
But before i do this i have a couple of questions
Where exactly does the power booster go in back of the intake?
Or should i just hook it up to the back of the carb?
And do you guys have any advice before i do this job?
Any advice or help will be appreciated, GO FORD!

I hooked mine to vacuum tree in the back.

Here are couple of threads from my intake swap adventure

hey mate, I see you have finally got a manifold/carb sorted. Good stuff. PCV hose (usually at the oil fill point) goes to the port at the back of the carb, and the the hose from the opposite side rocker cover at the rear of the engine goes to the air cleaner-that gives the block/crankcase a clean supply of air to replace the air sucked through the PCV into the intake vacuum. Did you buy them new, as there should be instructions, yes?
have a look at those links, but basics would be:
Sealant (not too much) at the end corners of the front and rear gaskets. Suggest you use cork, not rubber ones as if you are not so sharp at checking clearances, the rubber ones can be over compressed and will split and then leak-cork a bit more forgiving.
Install the manifold in place and after you have finger tightened all the bolts to ensure they have started, start tightening them from the middle bolt on one side of the manifold, go accross to the other side and then alternate diagonally until you are doing opposite corners-if you know what I mean.
Go up in increments so if the end torque was 30ftlbs for instance, you would do them all at 10, then 20 then finish off at 30.
Again do not use too much sealant as it can come off in blobs into the valley pan and end up blocking oil pumps etc-not good!
Installing the carb is pretty straight forward, but do the bolts up diagonally and in increments again so you dont warp the flange.
Make sure that the throttle linkage isnt sticky for obvious reasons, and then if you are really lucky it may just work without having to fiddle the crap out of it.
Also check before you slam the hood down, that there is enough clearance, but you may be aware of that already.
A trick to check for an intake leak is to use engine start and spray carefully around the base of the carb and intake edges of the manifold.
you must be carefull while doing this as it is highly flammable so it could ignite when in contact with a hot manifold (be unlucky here), or more likely a spark from an HT lead to/from your plugs and coil-watch out!
Whilst doing this, the engine noticeably picks up in revs, you have found a vac leak.

Actually the intake is new, I got it from a buddy of mine that got it new from edelbrock but never never ended going in his 351m
He threw the box and papers away a while back.: (
The only thing he kept was the little bag with bolts and other thing inside

You will have to pull some of the fittings off of your old manifold. On the back of your old manifold is a large vacuum tree, you will need that. It is hexagonal shaped and has several nipples coming out of it. Your brakes will go to that. Like crsmiffy said your pcv valve will go to that large one on the back of the carb. Your distrubutor advance will go to a port on the carb.

Here are the installation instructions from edelbrock.

Thanks for the links, i will check them out when i can
So that hexegon fitting that is connected from my old manifold, should go right on my new one?
Oh, and will i need this gasket? Edelbrock 2732 Carburetor Adapter : Amazon.com : Automotive
I guess my buddy also threw that away
Or should i just use the gaskets that come with the edelbrock carby?

I had to get a bushing on my intake to make it the right threads for the vacuum tree, but yes should go right into the new manifold. I would assume the gaskets from the carb would work. Maybe post a couple pics to make sure.

I would say so, I don't have that manifold. From what I can tell from this picture you would install it in the port I have circled in red, the one circled in blue would also have full manifold vacuum, so really either would work. From what I can tell those are the only places on that manifold to get vacuum. What all do you have to hook up?

So the red circle would be where i install the fitting from my old manifold right? And which i would insert the brake power booster correct?
And im looking at my manifold right now, and the only thing really i see hooked up to it would be that brake power booster and carby..
