First off I am not planning on doing this until later in the year.
My biggest question really is which height of a level kit do I need?
'04 350 4x4 lariat CC SRW
when I measure the height at the wheel wells its a bit more then a 4.5" difference. Where when I am looking at level kits they range from 2"-3" Additionally when I do it I plan on getting one that just replaces the leaf springs, trackbar ect.
should I just get a 3" version or a 4" overall kit and just do the front?
my end goal is to give me a bit more ground clearance but not go crazy. Just trying to plan ahead
You will need to add to both ends. I got my F350 with a leveling
kit on the front and it looked like the back end was dragging.
So I had to go from the stock 4" block to a 5" one. Now it sits
more or less level. Make sure that you get the correct block
in the back. They sell 2 types a square and a wedge one.
If you get the wrong one you will end up with drive line
shudder from a stop to about 25-30MPH. The shop that
sold and installed mine went under last week and they had sold
me the wrong ones. There goes $210.00 for the right parts and install.
The other shop said that they would cut there labor cost by $75.00
to help me out.
Because the new kit comes with new U-bolts and the blocks I can
just reuse the U-bolts I have and sell the blocks with a set of
new un-used U-bolts.
Anyway just make sure if you do add the back blocks you get the
right set. The kit I have is from ReadyLift Leveling Kits and Mild Lift Kits: Torsion Keys, Strut Spacers, Coil Spacers, and much more
The kit is nice it just the salesman ordered the wrong one for my truck.
I have nothing bad to say about ReadyLift.
They were installed when I got it. But I was told 2 1/5"
Then someone else said that the 2 1/5" are really a 3"
SO..... But the back I do know is a 5" block.
As I understand what I was told for my year it needs
to not be a tapered block and the ones they sold me
are. So now I have the shudder. to deal with.
I'll be on the phone with ReadyLift in the morning.

Coolio, thanks that helps me out quite a bit.

I checked there site they only have the 2.5" level kit with blocks for my truck. Hope all works out for ya!
I have noticed that there is less berating and attitudes here on the 6.0 forum then on the others, granted its only a couple of individuals but still it does get annoying. The real reason though is that I figured there could be some special concern being the heavier Diesel.
