Is there a smaller diamiter brake booster that will mount up to my 65’ F100 2WD? Like to buy a smaller brake booster so I can put the Ford Racing valve cover on my 460. Is it true that the 73’-74’ booster are smaller than the 75’-79’s ( I have a 65’ F100 2WD, 460 motor, and disc brakes from a 73’ F100, 2WD) <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I believe the difference in booster diameter depends on whether or not the vehicle was equipped with power drum or power disc brakes. We got our disc brake conversion from a 1975 F100 with power disc brakes and the booster is ~11" in diameter. When we went to order a rebuilt unit two boosters were listed, the smaller one was described as a unit for power drum brakes and the larger for disc brakes. There is a company in Charlotte NC that sells dual diaphragm boosters of smaller diameter but pricey
The booster i have is also 11''. Im not sure what year it is, I got it off a 68' that was converter to P/D Brakes. I only have 1'' of clearance from the booster to the stock valve cover. Wish i could find out how to add a photo to this post.
