I have a 96 bronco, first year of OBD2 monitoring. Everywhere I look for headers they only show up to 1995. Is there a way to bypass the EGR valve that comes off the bank 2 manifold? Love the truck as is but this does aggravate me slightly since I want the performance of headers. Any insight will be welcomed
This topic has been discussed at length many times. Try searching using the terms exhaust, EGR, or fascinating. EGR cannot be bypassed effectively without causing terrible idle issues. But that doesn't matter because it doesn't port through either exhaust manifold. It ports through the right-hand (bank 2) cylinder head. 96's need multiple HEGO (O2) sensor bungs in the exhaust for the OBD-II computer to function properly.
Any header you use will simply need to have a hole for the OEM HEGO (O2) sensor drilled and the nut that it threads into welded in place. If you don't see '96 listed, check directly with the manufacturers because some will make them by adding the necessary O2 sensor bungs for you.
