That rare "manual ratchet shifter" option.

Pulled the PTO covers on the T19 and happy to report the transmission is VERY clean in the inside. the synchros appear to have no wear on them.

This tag was on the side, I'm betting it was remanned at some point.

Well, this is one way to remove a shifter.

Why? So I can

A. Sell the shifter.

B. Install the manual transmission hump.

Just something to keep in the back of your mind. The four wheel drive, 1/2 ton long bed drive shaft is 70" long from center of U-joint to center of U-joint. I'm betting a 2wd, short bed is around the same length. It also has bolt on yolks at both ends, so it'll bolt up to the trans and the diff with no issues.

I will probably just get something done up from Tatton's or something.. These trucks don't exactly fall off trees around here. I'd suspect the long bed shaft would be too long, but I may find something.

The only reason I mentioned it was because the transfer case probably takes up the same amount of room as the longer bed. (and these trucks DO grow on trees around here) I just thought it would be cheaper. Either way, just something to keep in mind.

Ohh gotcha. I have the OMG sized 2 pc driveshaft from the F350 tow truck, but I really don't want to mess with that if I don't need to, lol.

Pictures.. Because I like pictures, and I haven't seen anything like this in the gazillion threads out there regarding this swap.

To my untrained eye, the L&L flywheel looks like a disc that L&L machines to the exterior dimensions of the 351m/400 flywheel, but with the 429/460 crank bolt pattern. The teeth pattern is the same as the 351M/400 (they meshed perfectly)

The pilot bearing given sits in the 'inner' hole of the crankshaft.

Clutch given.. I don't know much of anything about clutches, but this looked near identical to the clutch I pulled from the F350 tow truck that I got my bell/pedals/linkage from.

Bolted it all together.. spun the engine, I heard a faint 'rub rub'. At first I thought it was the block plate rubbing the crank hub. Nope. Turns out the pressure plate justtt barelllllllly rubbed the bell housing.

Broke out the angle grinder and clearanced it. Felt like the transmission went in fine (as fine as it could go by myself with the engine on a hoist and the transmission balanced on a piece of wood).

Good to see you making progress!

One thing, check the crankshaft endplay on the engine (with the clutch and tranny bolted to it) I've heard some guys with 460 swaps have run into issues with the 351m/400 bell housing not being deep enough.

Like I said, I was amazed that it just slipped together. I didn't even need bolts to 'pull it in'. It just went.

My huge issue now is...... What cross member and trans mount do I use?

Here's what I have under here now. A C6 mount and the F100 crossmember that I've used with C4s and C6s..

I also have this crossmember from the F350. It's got a big 'dip' in it that I think would make the transmission xmember the lowest part of the truck.

The pivots don't sit 100% across from each other.. the engine is a tad bit higher than the frame pivot.

Here's how the trans sits in the truck.

Does this look right? It's not up against the cover or anything like that, but is pretty damn close.

Do I have the correct cross member/mount in here?

Looks good to me.

Here is a shot of the T18/19 yokes FYI

I swapped from the 1330 to the 1310 to reuse the old driveshaft. Plus the fact I broke one of the ears on the 1330 dropping the trans.

LOL

Thanks for the pic!

I am starting 'fresh' with regards to a driveshaft, and I have two 9" pinions hanging around (1310 and 1330) so I'll go with whatever the T19 has currently. I think 1330, I haven't measured yet.. I think I'll get the xmember bolted down and then finish up the interior, since I'm waiting for a few misc. gaskets.
